Shortly before 1:00 am we heard the announcement that we were dreading, but knew was inevitable, our flight was cancelled. Everyone was to head to customer service for hotel vouchers and new flight arrangements for next day travel. One young man was very distraught. He told me his Dad was having open heart the next morning and he would miss it if he had to wait until tomorrow. One woman had a daughter graduating from Medical School. She was upset to miss the ceremony. Another person's spouse had to go out of town early the next morning, so she would not have someone to pick her up at the airport.
Suddenly, just as we were just about to the service desk on the next concourse, we heard "Attention all passengers for flight # XXXX. Please return to gate Xx for immediate boarding. This was music to our ears! As I entered the plane I gave the Captain a "High Five". I said Thank You! He told me he had finished his last flight of the day and had tomorrow off. When he heard about our situation he volunteered to take the flight. I thanked him again. As I walked down the aisle I saw the young family, now smiling, all settled in and their toddler was fast asleep.
The cabin door was shut after boarding was complete and the Captain announced "Good morning and welcome to flight XXXX, flying non-stop to Dayton, OH. Thank you for flying with us!" He continued to make small talk and joke over the speaker system through-out the flight. The Stewardess were wonderful too, joking and keeping everyone in a great mood.
God Sighting: Once again I am reminded that God works through people. This wonderful Pilot and Crew were my God Sightings that day. I hope that I too can reach out to help others and make the love of Christ known. God's blessings to you this day and always.
