My daughter, Brittany, called me to ask if we (my 3 daughters & myself) should get together and make breakfast casseroles. I suggested giving to the area churches providing meals and a place to eat. The areas hit by the tornado do not have gas and electricity restored yet. She agreed. We will donate.
My granddaughter, Elizabeth, called me last evening to ask where she could take the food she just purchased. She talked to me about her feelings; she wanted to help in some way; to give back. She talked about being blessed and being in a position to give to those who have lost their belongings. She has a servant heart, feeling God and needing to serve.
I believe area community resident and former NFL player, Keith Wenning, felt God and answered by organizing a Go Fund Me page on Facebook, which has allowed others to give and share the love of God. Residents and victims of this tornado helped search and rescue people, even before EMS could arrive, as they helped their neighbors emerge from the rubble. Danger of live electric lines did not detour these people.
Celina First Church of God, located amidst the devastation, offered and was used as a staging area for police, fire and EMS crews. They also have been receiving donations and have food lined up for every meal, so people can help then come to be fed and work some more as needed. Another local church, St John Lutheran Church, is hosting supper each night this week for those displaced by the tornado, volunteers and emergency crews. I am using the name, church, but it is the congregation of God's people banding together in service to others in need. An Auglaize County church offered to be a "drop-off"- collection point to allow people to bring donations and then they will deliver to those affected by this tornado. Communities helping their neighboring communities. This is America, small town USA and it is what we do best! We love each other and help each other. We rise up! We show the love of Christ as we help and care for one another.
My God sighting has been watching these people, God's people, help each other during this time of devastation.
