Have you ever thought about God working through or using difficult circumstances to improve your life? Well it’s true, God uses all of our life events for his glory. As I think back through this past year, 2021, I remember how sick my husband was on multiple occasions. I always knew I needed to reach out to fellow Christians and ask for prayer. I knew God was the answer. When we were out of state I knew we had to get back to our own doctors who were familiar with his history. During his last hospitalization in June, we were introduced to a young vascular surgeon, someone we had never met. Well, God knew him and used this opportunity of illness for my husband to meet him. My husband liked the surgeon. When the surgeon told my husband you have to take care of this. We have to restore the circulation in your legs. It’s not an option any longer, it’s a necessity. My husband told him OK. I’m happy to say that he went through the surgery on Monday and everything went well. God working through his people. God sent the perfect doctor with just the right personality and skill set to take care of my husband. This wonderful doctor is my God sighting. I am thankful and full of joy.
Once again I need to talk about my belief that God works through his people here on earth. My husband has many health issues, one of which gives him great pain due to the lack of circulation in his legs. For the past several years he has needed to have a medical procedure to open up the arteries in his legs, but he has been too afraid of the outcome to go through it. Several doctors have explained the procedures needed to help him. He hasn’t been able to say yes to these procedures. In his fear he has become very stoic and endures much pain. Unfortunately, this has increasingly limited his ability to participate in life. This must make him sad at times. Now we have reached a point where he no longer has a choice. Or should I say his options have changed. Surgery or infection leading to amputations are his new options.

When are we going home? Such a simple question to start our day. I sadly smiled and said to my husband, we’re already home here in Ohio at our house. This isn’t the first time that my husband has been confused about something. Parkinson’s plays tricks with your mind. Thought process is more difficult as his memory becomes affected by the disease. My husband is one of many veterans who served in Vietnam and are now living with the side effects of exposure to agent orange.
I wonder what my husband must be feeling or thinking during periods of confusion. I hope he is not afraid. I try to be positive and keep him attended and busy with simple activities throughout the day. Some might ask where is God during our times of less or times of doubt. I know, without doubt, God is with us always. When ever I begin to think why me, why Ben or why us, God shows me someone living with circumstances that make me appreciate my own. God is all around us. We need to open our eyes to see God sightings. I am so thankful for our friends and family, my God sightings, to share this journey of life with us. |
