Why an animal? History tells us we domesticated many types of animals. A bond is created during this process of providing affection, food and shelter. We find ourselves able to confide in our animals, knowing that all conversations are kept confidential. Our animals provide us with a listening ear, a welcome greeting and no judgement. Our animals are loyal and offer great companionship to ease loneliness. Some animals are trained to recognize life threatening situations and intervene on our behalf. How amazing!
Our God is so smart. God knew we would need something physical, something tangible to touch, to feel, to hold through out our lives, so God created animals. Animals seem to be an extension of God or angels from God. They share life with us, all the ups and especially the down times. Animals comfort and support us during times of stress and sorrow. I find in times of trouble or strife as I lift my voice in prayer, I am also able to hug our dog, receive unconditional love and be comforted. My God sighting for today is our animals. Thanks be to God for the wonderful gift of animals.
