So, Friday started out at 6 am when I heard Ben holler out as he hit the floor. I jumped out of bed, ran into the kitchen while asking him what happened. He lost his balance leaning forward while trying to put his shorts on resulting in a tumble out of the bar height chair. I helped him get up off the floor and back to bed. Thank God he only skinned his right knee and did not hit his face or head. We both struggled to fall back to sleep. My heart was racing. Ben commonly struggles to sleep.
It is off to the hospital for Ben's procedure and testing. We arrive after a 40 minute drive only to learn that I wrote the wrong date on our calendar for the procedure. My bad!! The trip was not a total loss. We had papers to drop off at a doctor's office and blood work to be done. We ate lunch, then drove home.
Frequently Ben is anxious and needs to be busy. He decided the garage needed cleaned out. He was right; it desperately needed cleaned out. Unfortunately for me, this means I am given task after task to complete if Ben cannot. I am the one with a honey-do-list! I am learning that any activity I think of or Ben thinks of, that will help him, seems to create more work for me. Ben always needs everything done NOW, but don't we all. :) I need to be more organized with my time so I can accomplish more each day. I have always liked to be able to go with the flow while following a loosely organized plan. This approach is not going to work any longer.
It is almost suppertime when Ben says, "Let's run." I wish I had a nickel for each time I have heard him say that. First stop is the VFW Post. It is a friendly place when everyone knows your name. Next stop.. the IC Festival for their famous roast beef sandwiches and French fries. Ben did not want to walk to the food tent so I parked, walked in and purchased our food. We ate in the car. I choked on a bite of sandwich. It took me a while to get it cleared and Ben could tell I was not completely ok. I drove home and he did not complain. Several times he asked me how I was feeling.
After watching TV for a while we decided it was time for bed. I went to bed first. I was just exhausted. Next to climb in bed, Ben. Poor guy, he just could not get comfortable. He as tossing and turning, moving his legs, even stealing the covers from me. We each have our own covers on our bed so most of the time Ben does not take mine. Friday night was unusual so I found myself going upstairs to sleep in our old bed. I still had a restless night but was able to stay covered! I wonder why Saturday will bring.
